After a substantial delay caused by computer issues the Robert Pollard podcast is finally ready for your listening pleasure. This particular podcast features between track commentary from yours truly. My hope is that people who have previously written off Bob's post-GBV solo career will find something to love and will investigate some of his newer material further. Feedback on how future podcasts could be improved is always appreciated.

Big thanks for this - especially for the download link this time.
As for the newer Pollard songs; they get my blessings as well.
Cheers
I enjoyed this very much and I appreciate you taking the time to put it together. After listening to your podcast, Dolphins of Color took a deep hold and dethroned the current obsession (there's always one, ever-changing) of Dunce Codex off LOTB. Fucking A, Bob.
Just settling into the Pollardcast now. I have few peers when it comes to knowledge of his albums, so looking forward to this.
Alright just heard the whole thing. I have to agree with most of your points. I realize there's only so much time in a day but that said I think both Circus Devils and Boston Spaceships were glossed over a bit. There really is too much material! Great points overall though.
Enjoyed the podcast - look forward to the next offering. Any chance of a playlist somewhere for those of us still coming to terms with Pollard's body of work?
great podcast. im a huge bob/gbv fan and it was great to hear your insights. cheers!

Glad to see the Keene Bros. album get some love. I can't understand why it isn't spoken of in the same appreciative tones as Speak Kindly (or spoken of at all, really), so can only surmise that by the time KB came out, a majority of print/web reviewers had already turned the page on Bob.
For financial reasons, I turned the page after 2008 as well, and have not been able to afford to keep track of Bob's output after Standard Gargoyle Decisions(especially when the half-ass Tobias-era aesthetic had already been wearing thin for years). Anyway, thanks for hipping me to the fact that Bob is working with new talent, and reminding me how much I love the bastard.
PS, as far as the podcast goes, I thought it was top-notch. Not sure if I've commented here before, but I've been enjoying your blog for years.
i love Pollards music, new and old. I enjoyed listening to your ideas. One thing that kept making me shake my head is this idea you keep bringing up about how Todd can not get that "band" sound. That one guy tracking things one instrument cant get the sound of a band. Might i just through this idea out there. Most records are not recorded with all the instruments being tracked at the same time. Even a band that is a great band, a solid unit of a band, usually builds up the tracks one instrument at a time. Also, its not as if Todd starts by playing the drums alone to zero music. Im not totally sure how he works, but i imagine he plays guitar to a click, then goes back and lays down a drum track. Its not worlds apart laying down drum tracks to a guitar track you just put down, than playing drums to a guitar track that is being put down at the same time. Dont get me wrong, im not disagreeing, snapping at you my friend, just saying, alot of times when a record sounds amazing like the band was all together vibing in the same room as they recorded, they were not. But then again, some times that does happen. Thats the great thing about music, and recording, it happens in all shapes and sizes. Love your blog.
